Collective Care with Anna and Zoe

Zoe and Anna’s journey into the world of doula support began unexpectedly at their daughters’ Montessori school. When Zoe first met Anna, she mistook her for a fellow doula, sensing a shared passion for nurturing families. Little did they know, this serendipitous encounter would blossom into a powerful partnership, transforming their approach to birth support.

Together, they have created a unique co-doula model that prioritizes the well-being of both families and themselves. By working in tandem, Zoe and Anna ensure that each family receives continuous, compassionate care, allowing them to be emotionally and physically present during the birthing process. Their collaboration means that one doula is always well-rested and ready to support clients, even in the face of unexpected challenges like illness or family obligations.

Zoe and Anna believe that this holistic approach not only enhances the birth experience but also fosters a sense of security for families. With two dedicated doulas by their side, clients can rest assured that their needs will be met with love and professionalism, no matter the circumstances. Together, they celebrate the beauty of birth, empowering families to embrace their journeys with confidence and peace.

About Anna:: As a previous pediatric medical assistant, small business owner and mother of four, Anna holds deep space for all who are preparing to bring new life into the world. She works and resides in Portland, Oregon with her partner, four children, eight chickens and two Australian Labradoodles. Anna has personally given birth in a hospital, a birthing center and twice at home — all locations can be beautiful, she assures. She is a supporter and advocate for all family arrangements, orientations, races, religions and cultures. Becoming a mother at 19 (22 years ago) has given her an extra dose of passion for supporting young birthing people. She believes that, “In your most empowered and vulnerable moments, sometimes you just need a mother’s nurturing touch.”

About Zoe:: Zoe’s work has always been centered on attunement; taking that extra time to listen, and hone in on how to create celebration and care around the stories that shape us. She began her career as a history teacher, and moved to Portland in 2008 to direct and develop middle school programs. She later started a small business focused on curriculum development and producing public art and films that share the stories of women, LGBTQ, and Black and brown communities. Zoe shares, “My experience in art and film production has taught me the beauty of storytelling, and I see birth as one of the most powerful narratives a family can share. Each birth is a masterpiece!”

Zoe resides in Portland with her partner and two precious daughters.
