Zoe Piliafas (she/her)
Our birth stories are not a single moment, but a steady remembrance weaving through our consciousness as the memories that shape our lives unfold. As your doula, I will join you in this journey to ensure that every step of it is guided by you. With evidence-based care and support, I’ll help your story unfold on your terms. I have two decades of experience working as an educator, producer, program director and foster care provider. My work has always been centered on attunement; taking that extra time to listen, and hone in on how to create celebration and care around the stories that shape us. I began my career as a history teacher, and moved to Portland in 2008 to direct and develop middle school programs. I later started a small business focused on curriculum development and producing public art and films that share the stories of women, LGBTQ, and Black and brown communities. My experience in art and film production has taught me the beauty of storytelling, and I see birth as one of the most powerful narratives a family can share. Each birth is a masterpiece, filled with strength, vulnerability, and profound love.
My own pregnancies and birth experiences have led me to shift my skills and passions towards supporting the birthing experience for families. I have focused my work on celebrating, acknowledging and making room for the stories that shape us—and I believe that birth is one of the singularly most important stories we have. My mission is to embrace every mother, father, and family type, celebrating the unique stories that each of you carries. The relationship I build with each family is one rooted in transformative love and commitment, as we celebrate the incredible “birthday party” for their child together.
Zoe works in a Collective Care model with Anna Chowdhury.

“From pregnancy to postpartum, Zoe has been an excellent communicator and available to support me when I’ve called on her. She has also provided much guidance and support to my partner, making us both feel cared for. She also took great pictures
during labor that I will forever treasure!
Her presence is grounding and affirming, she is able to hold space for aaaallllll of the
emotions, she has a great sense of humor, and expertly tunes into the needs of others.
My pregnancy, labor, and postpartum experience has been enriched thanks to her
careful attention, listening, validation, and unwavering support. Without a doubt I would
highly recommend her to anyone looking for a doula.”
